Review - Avon Advanced Techniques Morrocan Argan Oil Leave In Hair Treatment

I love Avon's make-up and bath products, but while flicking through last months catalogue, I realised I had never tried any of their haircare products. On the front cover they were advertising a their new Moroccan Oil Leave-in Hair Treatment and I liked the sound of it. It was on offer too, which was an added bonus, so I ordered one to try out.

The bottle is so gorgeous in my opinion. It has a pump function and there is a reasonable amount of product for the price.

I think the oil smells very, very nice, but unfortunately, that's the only thing I like about it. When I first used it on my hair, as soon as I had dried it, it was greasy. I re-washed my hair and used a little less oil and it left my hair looking soft and shiny, but I have thin hair so I couldn't curl it as it was now too soft and when I tried to give my hair volume as I do everyday, my hair just went flat straight away.

I now use the oil on the very ends of my hair once a week to nourish it, but I couldn't use it everyday as it just makes my hair greasy :(

However, the oil would, in my opinion, be very a very good purchase for someone who has problems with split ends. The oil really does nourish the ends of the hair and makes it so soft!

I also recommend the oil for people with thicker hair, that has problem with frizz and/or dry hair. As I said, the oil makes the hair soft and smooth.

Sadly, it just makes my short, thin hair greasy if I use too much.

Has anyone else had this problem with Moroccan Oil hair products? And can anyone recommend a good oil?

Tips on how to manage oily skin

Having oily skin is a nightmare! Or I think so anyway...

I have discovered a few tips and tricks over the years to make my oily skin, well, less oily. As I am such a lovely person, I suppose I will share them with my fellow oily skin sufferers!

1. Replace your toner with pure Witch hazel. I buy mine from Superdrug for around £2 and I use it every morning and night after washing my face. I swear by this product as I can feel it tightening my pores and my skin feels squeaky clean and oil free after using it.

2. Have a good routine. Wash your face twice a day, morning and night, tone, then moisturise. Some people with oily skin believe that moisturiser makes the skin more greasy, but this isn't true. I thought this until my dermatologist told me not using moisturiser makes the skin produce more oil, to replace the moisture it has lost through not using moisturiser...wow, a lot of the word moisturiser was used then huh?

3. Always use a primer before putting on foundation. This makes sure your make up stays put for longer, protects the pores from being blocked and also keeps shine away for a lot longer! I swear by Witch's anti-blemish skin clearing primer. It contains Witch hazel, which does wonders for oily skin and it works underneath the foundation, clearing spots and preventing them too! What's not to love? It costs me around £5 from Superdrug.

4. Always use powder after applying foundation! Always! This keeps shine at bay for a while. Carry it in your handbag for touch ups through the day too. I use Rimmel Londons's Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent for a shine free complexion and touch ups through the day. It costs around £4.

5. Carry blotting papers in your handbag. I love Kleenex's new Shine Absorbing Sheets. The sheets are so pretty looking and they blot away oil and grease, without budging any of your make up. Perfect!

6. Keep topping up your supply of Dream Matte Mousse Foundation. I always, always have this in my handbag, for when I am having a lazy day. It is so easy to apply and doesn't need any powder on afterwards. Perfect for when your foundation slips off.

7. After applying make-up, set it with hairspray to help it stay put for hours!

Review - Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation

I have been using Maybellines Dream Nude Arifoam Foundation for a few months now and I must say it is by far one of the best foundations I have used. I have read some bad reviews about this product, but the foundation really works for me.

The foundation was just a novelty to me when I first purchased it. My inner child got excited about the word 'Airfoam' so I ended up buying it so I could have a play with a foaming foundation... (There wasn't any testers that day so I just bought it!)

The packaging is really simple, the same style as Maybellines other foundations.

This foundation has a pump, which takes a while to get used to as when you press the pump the foundation comes out fast and the foam expands in your hands so you can end up with too much foundation if you aren't careful!

You have to shake the bottle really well before using the foundation because if you don't, it comes out white and no colour at all ends up on your face!

I would recommend anyone to at least try this foundation. It is lightweight, easy enough to blend, stays on for about 12 hours (although I always touch up my shiny nose and chin with pressed powder every couple of hours, as I have oily skin!)  and it really does have a 'nude' effect - when it is on, if I've blended it well, I cannot tell I have foundation on! I chose the Nude shade, which was perfect for my skin colour.

Have you tried Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation? What did you think?

Why do men never admit that they are wrong?

I know that this is not a usual post for me, but I need to get all my anger out somehow and unfortunatly, you guys are at the end of the stick ;)

Why do men never admit that they are in the wrong? Me and the boyfriend are currently in an argument becasue I have had enough of him telling me how 'fit' the girl behind the counter at Maplin is and staring at her while i am with him and how he has slept with 40 plus girls, look at a picture of a girl he knows on his friends phone while she is dressed in a sexy schoolgirl outfit while i am there and then to top it off, the other day with his friend, he thought it was acceptable to discuss how lucky his friend was to have gotten lucky with another girl who was...yep you guessed it...Fit...while i was there! Now I know all men talk about girls when they are together, but please, do it when your girlfriend isn't sat with you, right?

It's not as if I'd sit there and talk about how fit the guy at the gym is or how gorgeous my collegue at work is, or that my best friend is lucky because she has slept with the GOD of all Sex Gods while he was with me.

And then when I finally brought all this up and told him it was disrespectful and made me feel unattractive and useless when he spoke about other girls this way in front of me, he couldnt see what he had done wrong!

I told him that while it was fine for him to go on about Rihanna and her fit legs, or go on about Frankie out of The Saturdays and how 'proper sexy' she is (and I always have some form of fit when The Script comes on in the car as I am in love with Danny, and I always swoon over pictures of Ryan Reynolds in magazines while my boyfriends there) because that is just a couple having a laugh with eachother, but when he starts saying all this about girls that he could actually go and sleep with if he really wnated to, because he actually knows them, thats when its a huge no no...

Am I right? Or am I wrong?

Rant Over!

Max Factor Eye Brightening Mascara for Green Eyes

After getting my younger sister the new Max Factor Eye Brightening Mascara (for Blue Eyes, see earlier posts for the review!) for her Birthday, I went out and got myself one. I tried it today for the first time and I think its a great mascara! At first when I opened the mascara, I noticed it has got a purpley, reddish tint to it and I thought 'oh no, its going to look just like i've put a coloured mascara on', but the colour doesn't actually show on the lashes at all! Strange, right?!

The mascara has a puple/red tint to it (I dont think it's that noticable on this picture, but hey at least you know what type of brush it is now!)

It has stayed on for almost six hours without transfering onto my skin like a lot of other mascaras I have tried have done, my lashes look a lot longer and thicker and although the 'Brightening Effect' didn't work on my sister with her mascara for blue eyes, I can actually notice a difference with mine, even if it is only a slight difference in brightness.

Bare Eyes-Before Mascara

With Max Factor Eye Brightening Mascara for Green Eyes

The packaging as I said before on the Blue Eye post is really pretty compared to other boring, plain mascara tubes.

Pretty tube!

The mascara is currently on offer at Boots for £4.99. I'd recommend this mascara particulary for people with short, stumpy lashes as mine are usulally like that but after a few coats of this mascara, my eyelashes looked lovely and a lot longer! As for the Brightening effect- it brightened my eyes, but did nothing for my sisters, so I think its up to you to judge whether it works for you or not!

Have you tried this mascara? What did you think?
